U.S. soccer's celebrity athlete Hope Solo made a strong showing the first few nights of the Olympics. But on Tuesday, she was the subject of criticism following two seemingly weak goals she let in from Colombia, resulting in a draw with the South American country. As expected, the internet had a lot to say about her mistakes, and these Hope Solo jokes and memes prove that spectators have a great (albeit cutting) sense of humor.

Solo's career has remained relatively steady until now. She won gold at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and despite the U.S. team losing at the 2015 Women's World Cup, she received the Golden Glove trophy for best goalkeeper. That's why fans were stumped when Solo let the ball in not once but twice during the U.S./Colombia game -- she wasn't playing like her usual self. And audiences, as usual, were quick to notice that something's up. Though her missteps ultimately caused the U.S. to tie with Colombia, it still came out on top in that round. Next comes a quarterfinal match, in which the U.S. will be paired with Sweden.

Despite Twitter users poking fun at Solo's major televised faux pas, most of the comments (at least from Americans) were supportive, and aimed more at offering empathy to the star goalkeeper than cutting her down.
