Celebs To Follow On Twitter During The Olympics

by Michelle McGahan

While Bob Costas is an Olympic fixture and I personally love hearing the gymnastics analysis from Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin, sometimes the best Olympic commentators are celebs on Twitter. Sure, they may not know the ins and outs of (any) of the sports, or have any background or authority on the games, and that's exactly the point — and what makes their 140-character insights all the more appealing. Celebs live-tweeting the Olympics is proof-positive that they're fangirling over Olympic fan favorites just as hard as the rest of the world, only with a lot more star wattage and way better comedic timing. Seriously: Look no further than Ghostbusters actor Leslie Jones, whose tweets about Rio were so hilarious that they actually scored her an invite to the games, where she is currently cheering on the athletes IRL and documenting it all for her followers to see.

So the next time you're glued to NBC, tap on that Twitter app and follow along with everyone from Samuel L. Jackson to Andy Cohen to Josh Groban. The celeb commentary is almost worth a gold medal in itself — one that Ms. Leslie Jones would certainly dominate, again and again — so sit back, scream bloody murder while rooting for your faves, and laugh your ass off along with the celebs' insightful comments below.

1. Leslie Jones

I REPEAT: LESLIE JONES' OLYMPIC COMMENTARY WAS SO GOOD THAT IT SENT HER TO RIO. IT SENT HER TO RIO, GUYS.

2. Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson, always here to bring the laughter (and the NSFW language).

3. Andy Cohen

The Watch What Happens Live host was all about the synchronized diving.

4. Zach Braff

The Scrubs star's Olympic commentary is Next Level Dad Joke.

5. Josh Groban

Josh Groban on Twitter is always gold, and his reactions to the Olympics are no exception.

6. Ryan Seacrest

Ryan Seacrest's Twitter is filled with behind-the-scenes photos of him hanging out with all of the Olympians, and for that reason alone you need to be following him. Now.

7. Camila Cabello

Fifth Harmony may be on tour, but Camila Cabello always has time for a little men's swimming. Who doesn't, TBH?

8. Devon Sawa

Sawa regularly live-tweets boxing matches, but it's his Olympic commentary that certainly caught my eye — even if it is a little off-color sometimes.

So, as if you didn't have enough to keep up with when it comes to the Olympics, now you're going to just have to keep up with these celebs, too. Enjoy!
