Simone Biles & Zac Efron's Olympic Connection

by Caitlyn Callegari

If you aren't following two-time (so far) gold medalist Simone Biles on Twitter, honestly, what are you even doing? Not only is the Olympic gymnast the perfect source for all of the best and most endearing Olympic highlights, her feed is endlessly entertaining for a whole different reason: Her interactions are a real time, real life, rom-com unfolding before our very eyes, if Biles' tweets back and forth with Zac Efron are any indication. E! Online jokingly calls it a "love story," but it's so much more than that. This is the real deal rom-com narrative we all deserve but which has been wrongfully denied to us for so long.

To inform those who may be ignorant to what is transpiring between Biles and Efron, let me enlighten you. Biles has had a crush on Efron since forever and now that the actor has been made aware of it, he's reciprocating those feelings. Sure, you could say that the actor is simply honored that someone as legendary as Biles is paying him mind. Or you could open your eyes and realize that something even bigger is going on here. Something I like to call fate. We are watching two people from vastly different disciplines and backgrounds find one common interest: each other. How's that for movie tagline? Are you sold yet? If not, don't worry. I've brought the receipts as back up. You'll be a Simone and Zac shipper by the time I am done with you, I promise.

Girl Pines For Seemingly Unattainable Boy

We've all been there. If you haven't had a celebrity crush, you are a liar. Yeah, I said it. (P.S. To be clear, Ellen DeGeneres gifted Biles with the Zac leotard when she appeared on her show since the host knew she was a fan.)

The Two Become "Friends"

Notice my use of quotation marks.

As they say, the rest is (or, will be) history. I'm honestly just waiting for Efron to show up in Rio with flowers. Admit it, you are, too.
