Selena Epically Shuts Justin Down On Instagram

by Nicole Pomarico

If you were holding out hope that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez might actually get back together again, think again. After their social media feud this weekend, it's safe to say the chances of that happening are pretty much impossible. According to Us Weekly, on Sunday night, Gomez commented on Bieber's Instagram post about his fans, shutting him down for threatening to make his Instagram private. And as someone who has sat on the sidelines just waiting for this seemingly endless bad relationship spiral to finally come to an end, I couldn't possibly be cheering Gomez on more right now.

In case you missed the #RIPBeliebers drama on Sunday, it all started when Bieber finally got fed up with people bashing his alleged new girlfriend, Sofia Richie. Bustle has reached out to reps for Bieber and Richie regarding the claims they are dating, but have not yet received a response. Bieber edited the caption of a photo of the two of them together to say that if the hate didn't stop, he'd shut down his fans' access to his personal life on Instagram. OK, fair enough — it's good of him to stand up for Richie, and can you really blame him for feeling attacked?

Even so, Bieber is forgetting something important: His fans are the reason anyone's paying attention to his life to begin with. But don't worry, that's where Gomez comes in. She reportedly wasted no time commenting on his post, and while her allegedly comment was very direct, it also manages to sound very respectful toward Bieber and Richie. You know Gomez, guys. "Kill 'Em With Kindness" and all that. It's pretty hard to find Gomez's actual comment on Bieber's post based on the sheer pandemonium that took over after fans saw what she had to say, but The Shade Room shared this screenshot of the alleged comment:

But wait — there's more. Gomez also posted on her Instagram about how much she loves her fans, which was clearly aimed at Bieber's lack of support for his. And of course, Bieber reportedly responded, making this whole thing even juicier than it already was:

There are rumors Gomez responded, allegedly accusing Bieber of cheating on her multiple times, but it's unclear if that particular comment is real or Photoshopped. Bustle has reached out to Gomez's rep for comment on this claim, as well as comment on the reports of the other Instagram comments. For now, the above conversation is all we have to go by, and even so, it seems like she managed to get a rise out of Bieber just by pointing out something he may not have considered before making such a sweeping statement.

As someone who cares just a little too much about what celebrities do in their free time, I'm glad to see that the Bieber chain seems to be broken for Gomez, and I'm pretty proud of her for not backing down on this one. While Bieber definitely has a point when he asks for respect for Richie, Gomez does, too. Neither of them could have the job they love without their fans' support, and since Gomez has been in the business since her Barney and Friends days, it seemed like she was there more to offer him advice than anything else.

Did Gomez actually use Bieber for his fame? Doubt it, since when they started dating, she was already finding success on her own starring in Wizards of Waverly Place. She didn't need Bieber — she got what she wanted all on her own, so I really hope she let that alleged comment from Bieber roll right off her back. And in the end, this fan really says it better than I ever could:

Fingers crossed this little chat isn't over quite yet. I'd love to see Gomez respond to Bieber insinuating that he made her famous. Maybe she can get tips from her BFF, Taylor Swift, who experienced something very similar with Kanye West not too long ago. Either way, if Gomez is going to shut him down again, I want a front row seat.
