Karlie Kloss & T. Swift Are Still BFFs, OK?

by Daniela Cabrera

By now, you probably know all about the Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian Snapchat debacle, after which people immediately began speculating about which of Swift's squad members were going to come to her defense. Well, on Aug. 14, the Sunday Times published an interview with Swift's BFF Karlie Kloss in which she called Kardashian "a lovely person," and the rumors began about whose side Kloss was on. Not having any of this negativity, Kloss has now stood up for her friendship with Swift and pledged her allegiance to her, essentially telling everyone to mind their own business. And I think it was the best thing she could do.

In the cutthroat world of Hollywood, every day is another day to pit a woman against another woman. At least, that's what is happening for Kloss and Swift. But as soon as the model caught wind of certain media outlets speculating about a rift in their friendship, she took to Twitter to defend herself, and her response sounded to me a lot like Swift's now-infamous "excluded from this narrative" line, which she posted on Instagram amid the Snapchat drama.

To understand where the speculation began, when Kloss was asked about Kardashian in the Times, she responded, "I think she's been a lovely person to me in the past... Look, I really don't know her that well." Sounds innocent enough, right? Well, the Internet jumped at the chance to speculate that something must have been up with Kloss and Swift if she would say such a thing.

I may not always agree with the things that Swift, Kardashian, or anyone else says or does, but it's pretty obvious that creating drama between women is absolutely something that happens tenfold over their male counterparts, and it is annoying. Rightfully upset, Kloss stopped the rumors in their tracks:

I love this. Although Swift has stepped out of the spotlight over the last few weeks, Kloss is still very present and aware of what is happening and stood up in defense of her character. She absolutely does not need to be a part of the narrative of a "BFF cat fight" with accusations of her choosing sides with her best friend's "enemy." A woman can say something nice about another woman without it meaning that she is insulting another.

And if anyone is wondering just how well Kloss and Swift's friendship is actually doing, Kloss recently tweeted a sweet photo of Swift FaceTiming her for her birthday:

And Swift posted a lovely birthday dedication to Kloss on her Instagram, so it's obvious that all is right and well in their world, and there's no reason to discuss otherwise. Bravo to Kloss for taking a stand!
