Read Frank Ocean's Sweet Note To "Blonde" Fans

by Rachel Simon

After an incredibly long (but well worth it) wait, Frank Ocean's album Blonde has finally arrived, and fans could not be more excited. The 17-song album is a beautiful collection of intimate tracks about Ocean's life and relationships, with stellar contributions from people ranging from Beyonce to The Beatles. Judging from reactions on Twitter and early reviews, it seems that due to the album's quality, fans are choosing to forgive Ocean for the long wait — and in a note that Ocean posted on his Tumblr shortly after Blonde's release, it's clear that the singer is not taking that for granted.

"I had the time of my life making all of this. Thank you all," Ocean wrote in the note. "Especially those of you who never let me forget I had to finish. Which is basically every one of ya’ll. Haha. Love you.”

It's a sweet note, and it's great to see Ocean poking fun at his own slowness in getting Blonde (formerly Boys Don't Cry) released to the public. The album, plus the accompanying visual album Endless as well as a Boys Don't Cry magazine that was released at several pop-up stores on Saturday night, may be garnering great reactions, but that doesn't mean that fans are totally gonna forget the frustration of having to wait years to get any new music from Ocean. Ocean making fun of himself is very needed, and makes for an amusing addition to the thank-you note.

Hopefully, when Ocean next decides to release new music, it won't mean another four-year-long wait — after the time we all spent wondering if Blonde was ever going to come out, fans deserve to have Ocean's next album come right on schedule.
