Who Britney Spears' "Just Like Me" Could Be About

Oops, she did it again... and it couldn't be more glorious. On Friday, Britney Spears released her new album, Glory . Leave it to Brit Brit to make TGIF even better. If you haven't had a chance to listen to her album yet, I highly recommend it. You'll probably take a liking to most, if not all, of the songs, but there is one particular track that will catch your eye: "Just Like Me." The lyrics stand out and will most likely make you wonder who "Just Like Me" is about.

There is no mention of a particular name in the song, but it's pretty clear Spears is singing about catching her man cheating on her with someone who looks "just like her." Check out some of the lyrics:

Heart's beating fastWhen I'm turning the keyI see you on your backAnd I just can't believeShe looks just like me, just like meNo, I just can't believeShe looks just like me, just like meJust like me, ooh

Either, the 34-year-old singer once walked in on a significant other cheating on her with someone who really looked like her, is basing it on a time she was once cheated on, or she decided to write a song about the possibility of that actually happening.

If the song does stem from a real-life event, it's possible that the song is based on the time Spears claimed her ex-boyfriend David Lucado cheated on her in 2014. Rumors of their split circulated after Spears took to Twitter and said, "Ahhh the single life," after a video reportedly surfaced of Lucado making out with another woman, according to TMZ. At the time of the report, a rep for Lucado told TMZ, "David is very, very in love with Britney. This is unfortunate and he hopes that it all works out."

Spears addressed the rumors during her Las Vegas show in August 2014 and claimed, "So I know you know my boyfriend cheated on me." She added, "But the best thing about being cheated on is I get to go on more first dates."

It's unclear if the woman Lucado allegedly cheated on Spears with looked like her or if even "Just Like Me" is really about her former boyfriend. Seeing as the track feels so personal and passionate, it sure sounds like she found inspiration from real life. However, exactly who inspired her to create the song has yet to be revealed, but maybe Spears will open up about it now that Glory is released.

Fans will just have to wait and continue speculating, or maybe just listen to "Just Like Me" on repeat and try to figure it out for themselves.
