When Will Instagram Zoom Be Available For Android?

If you're a fan of the photo and video sharing app Instagram, you already know that the thing everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived: The ability to zoom in on photos and videos. But according to the announcement about the feature Instagram made on their own Instagram page on Wednesday, right now, the feature is only available for iOS — so when will Instagram zoom be available for Android devices? Well, we don't have an exact date yet, but what we do know is good news: It'll be soon.

Bust has reached out to Instagram for comment and will update if/when we hear back; however, Instagram's official announcement has plenty of information about the zoom feature contained with in it. It's pretty exciting stuff, too! In the caption of their post, they explain, "Starting today, you can pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore. Dive into an adorable puppy’s smile or into every detail of your friend’s new shirt. ... Zoom is available today for Instagram on iOS." But wait! There's more! For any Android users like myself curious about when they'll have access to the feature, the statement continues, "Zoom will be available on Android in the coming weeks." Just a little bit longer, guys, and we'll get the zoom feature, too.

Luckily for us, it appears that the zoom feature works exactly the same way in Instagram as it does when you use the camera function on your phone. By this, I mean that you just use your fingers to press on your screen and expand them where you want to zoom in. Personally, I love it when apps update, but I hate having to learn all sorts of new tricks, so I'm relieved that this update is pretty intuitive.

Many iOs users are reporting that they didn't even need to update their Instagram apps to be able to use the zoom feature. As Bustle's Megan Grant pointed out, the option just appeared when she opened the app as of Wednesday morning.

Can you tell I can't wait for the zoom feature for Android to come out? Come on, Instagram — Android users are basically salivating over here! After all, we need to step up our food pics, too.
