Are You Ready for Karl Lagerfeld's Fragrances?

by Cherise Luter

We swear one day there will be headlines that don't include Karl Lagerfeld's name... but today isn't it. According to WWD, Lagerfeld is officially launching a new fragrance line, which elevates his to do list from Crazy Cat Lady to The Shining in level of insanity. The coming months will bring his Fall 2014 couture collection for Chanel, more photography (he shot a fantastic campaign featuring Kate Upton), and a hotel venture in gambling mecca Macau.

But for right now, all eyes are on his namesake fragrances for men and women, which will debut this month. Refinery29 got all the details about the launch from Kaiser Karl — here are five important things you need to know.

It's got something for the ladies and the gents

The women’s version uses notes of lemon, peach, roses, and ambery woods, while the men’s scent is centered around an aromatic fern with lavender, mandarin zest, apple, and an amber blend. It's both classic and edgy — something only Lagerfeld himself can pull off.

It's exclusive to Macy's

If you want 'em, you best be getting yourself to a Macy's store, or over to macys.com. Lagerfeld is egalitarian.

He's got some... preferred uses

Lagerfeld spritzes his men’s fragrance, like all scents, on his clothing, sheets, curtains, and towels — but never on the skin. We should all follow suit.

Karl's a multitasker

As mentioned earlier, Lagerfeld is an accomplished photographer, and he lent his talent to his own promotional campaign, which stars models Kati Nesher and Baptiste Giabiconi. Watch him work:

There's more in the interview, including his views on fashion, social media, and good grooming. Favorite KL moment: “Selfies are just a form of visual masturbation." Ha! We can always count on Lagerfeld for a quotable.
