Jimmy Fallon Supports Barb From 'Stranger Things'

by Michelle Lulic

Fans may be gearing up for Season 2 of Stranger Things, but as far as Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon is concerned, the squad still has some unfinished business in the Upside Down. Despite the fact that the boys got their friend Will back at the end of Season 1, everyone seemed to have left thoughts of Nancy Wheeler's best friend Barb (played by actress Shannon Purser) behind. In the Tonight Show 's Stranger Things sketch, Fallon is not going to let that little detail go. With the help of the show's cast, the talk show host took on the role of Steve Harrington (normally played by actor Joe Keery) and brought Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and even Eleven face-to-face with Barb. You know, since she was the one character the town seemingly forgot about — but we didn't.

You weren't the only one thinking everyone's reaction to Barb's disappearance/death was a little weak. Fallon and Tonight Show writer A.D. Miles where thinking it too. With the help of her famed "librarian" attire, a wig, and some '80s-inspired glasses, Barb finally let the world know how she really feels about her fate. It's just as hilarious as you may have imagined just merely hearing the synopsis.

The parody reveals "twists," including Barb sending Will back into the Upside Down and her presumed Netflix spinoff series, Orange Is The New B*tch. Nancy's former BFF does not hold back. With swears galore and the cast's weak attempts at an explanation, this comedy sketch is too real. Considering the scale of the search for Will, compared to the complete lack of search for her, who could blame Barb for feeling this way? We feel you, Barb. We feel you.

In the wake of all this comic genius, can Barb actually return for Season 2 of Stranger Things ? According to the Duffer Brothers, she did officially die at the hands of the Demogorgon. However, in regards to Season 2, they said, "Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb." Season 1's shortcomings will not only be addressed in Season 2, but there's also tons more on its way. "Season 1 actually takes place over the course of six or seven days — it’s a really short period of time," the Duffer Brothers continued. "So part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened."

But thank you, Jimmy Fallon, for briefly giving Barb the space to say what she needed to say. RIP Barb. I will always miss you.
