Colin Firth Teases His Return In 'Kingsman 2'

by Michelle Lulic

Valentine may have been defeated by the Kingsman in the 2014 film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, but, in 2017, the Kingsmen will be back to crack all new codes — and I do mean all the Kingsmen. Even after recruiting Garry "Eggsy" Unwin and facing his own ultimate demise, Harry Hart is set to return. After the reveal that Colin Firth will be back for the Kingsman sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the actor is giving new details on what fans can expect. He wasn't able to reveal much in his interview with Collider , but he was still sure to tease just how much craziness fans should expect in the sequel. (As if the idea of Harry Hart returning from the dead wasn't already crazy enough.)

"From what I’ve been able to gather, it’s not going to feel like a conventional sequel. It’s going to be something that feels very much its own thing. I’m very optimistic about it," Firth said. "I can’t give too much away about in what capacity I’m back. A lot of people have speculated and a lot of people have come to the wrong conclusions about it. I want to keep the surprise alive, a little longer. I think they’re going to be surprised again."

For fans like me, that sounds like a challenge. Key phrases like "I'm involved, somewhere and somehow" and "It’s going to be something that feels very much its own thing" make my head reel with possibilities. If you add on top of that Taron Egerton's cryptic post from this past April, this could mean anything from time travel to a computer program to an evil twin to appearances from Harry's ghost still haunting Eggsy even after all this time.

However, if everything really is as unexpected as Firth describes, then I may be totally off track. In an interview with CinemaBlend , the actor was sure to divert fan's assumptions even further,

There is an extraordinary atmosphere [on set] where I think nothing is going to be obvious to anybody. I think Matthew Vaughn's outrageousness and the way he likes to subvert people's expectations, it's very, very much alive. This is not a stretching out of the stuff from the first movie. It's going to be a complete and utter... I'm optimistic that it's going to be extraordinary, and utterly its own thing.

Is this driving everyone else crazy or just me? Hopefully, all our questions about whether or not Harry is even corporeal in his return will be answered soon. Until then, I'll be over here theorizing.
