What used to be an untrusted frontier in shopping — the Internet — has grown tremendously in the past few years. Sites like Shopbop and Asos are as easily accessible as boutique-laden streets like Bleecker or Robertson. Net-a-Porter recently offered a same day helicopter drop of your purchase if you've headed out East for the weekend. Moda Operandi allows customers to purchase runway pieces the same day as the show.

The site Vaunte provides for customers to shop directly from the closets of socialites and celebrities. What arrives in the mail isn't a similar item or something inspired by the closet, but the exact designer shoe or vintage dress that's been added to cart. According to WWD, now Vaunte is looking towards expansion, too: They're breaking out of the cramped closets of New Yorkers and setting up shop in Los Angeles, where the closets are grander and the merchandise bountiful.

Founder Christian Leone told WWD, "In New York, people edit more, and in L.A... we go into closets, and they have so much stuff.” The move makes perfect sense.

For reconnaissance's sake, I did a little browsing and found such wonders as "Chanel enthusiast" and interior stylist Cricket Burns, who has amassed a collection of Chanel so bountiful that she won't miss the 31 Chanel items put to sale through Vaunte.

It's like having the best designer consignment shops available from your bed, or wherever it is that you shop online.
