Here's How Pokemon Go for Apple Watch Is Different

Nitanic Labs announced that Pokemon Go will be available on the Apple Watch soon at Wednesday's Apple iPhone 7 event. Yes, that's right, trainers, Pokestops, Pokeballs, and Pikachus are coming right to your wrist by the end of the year. While you won't be able to play the entire augmented-reality game from your watch, it seems like this integration could help you be the very best — or at least better — and save you from walking into telephone poles, walls, and strangers. After a demo from Pokemon Go Product Manager Tetsuya Nomura, it's pretty clear that you'll never miss a Pokestop again.

So how is the game different on the Apple Watch? Well, for one, it looks like you won't be able to catch Pokemon, but you will be getting a lot more data up front without having to take out your smartphone out, from how many points you need to reach the next level to how far you walked to catch that Snorlax.

According to Ninantic Labs, Pokemon Go has been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide since it launched this summer and players have walked more than 4.6 billion kilometers (that's about 2.75 billion miles!) while playing the game. Now, those long Pokewalks are about to get more efficient. Here's what's different:

1. You Can See How Far You Need To Walk Or Run To Hatch An Egg

Finally!

2. You Can See Your Level

...and how many XP aka Experience Points you need to get to the next level.

3. Your Walk Gets Recorded As A Workout

Yup, your Pokewalks are now a legit activity.

4. You'll See Which Pokemon Are Nearby

You'll have to catch them on your phone, but hey, knowledge is power.

5. You'll Never Miss A Pokestop Again

As you approach a Pokestop, a tap on wrist alerts you and you can swipe to collect items right on your watch. BOOM.

6. You Get A Summary Of Your Walk

When you're done with your walk, you'll get a summary screen displaying your hard work, including your workout activity and all the items you collected along the way.
