The Deets On This 'DWTS' Husband

by Alanna Bennett

Candace Cameron Bure is making some sort of splash on Dancing With the Stars this week, and it's made us wonder: We got to know her during her very well-documented time as DJ Tanner, but what has her real-life romantic life been like since on-screen love Steve went bye-bye? Let's dig into Cameron Bure's husband, retired NHLer Valeri Bure.

Cameron became Cameron Bure quite a long time ago, actually: She married Valeri Bure in June of 1996. They were introduced by Dave Coulier, aka Uncle Joey from Full House, and have been together ever since.

Bure is known separate from his marriage to DJ Tanner; his career in hockey has been impressive. Russian by birth (born in Moscow), Bure was drafted to the Montreal Canadiens in 1992 NHL draft. He's since played with the Frederiction Canadiens, the Calgary Flames, the Florida Panthers, the St. Louis Blues, and the Dallas Stars. He was also signed with the Los Angeles Kings, but he never played a game for them.

He and Cameron Bure have three children: Natasha, born 1998, Lev, born 2000, and Maskim, born 2002. They are both devout Christians, and Cameron Bure landed a few headlines a couple months back when she revealed to the public that she prefers to take a "submissive" role in her marriage. As she said at the time:

I quickly learned that I had to find a way of honoring his take-charge personality and not get frustrated about his desire to have the final decision on just about everything. I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work.

And:

The definition I'm using with the word submissive is the biblical definition of that. So, it is meekness, it is not weakness. It is strength under control, it is bridled strength. And that's what I choose to have in my marriage.

The pair have been married 17 years. Good luck to Candance Cameron Bure, tonight! Here's to her taking a more, maybe, um, dominate role on the dance floor.
