Emilia Clarke Will Make Her Return To The Emmys

It's no secret that Game of Thrones is a perennial favorite at the Emmys, but, surprisingly enough, its massive cast of actors hasn't brought home as many statues as one might expect. Peter Dinklage has won twice for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, but even Jon Snow only received his first acting nomination this year. Emilia Clarke was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in 2013, 2015, and this year, but could 2016 be the year that she finally brings home a well-deserved win? Although she faces some tough competition (mainly from her own co-stars), it's a definite possibility. So, my next question is: Will Emilia Clarke be at the 2016 Emmys?

Although she was nominated last year, Clarke missed the ceremony due to... Game of Thrones. The actor was filming Season 6 in Spain and she had to skip the festivities because the filming of Game of Thrones stops for no man (and certainly for no awards show). In 2015, the actor posted a good-natured Instagram photo to explain her absence and to express support for her show and castmates. Call me selfish, but I'll be seriously disappointed if she misses the 2016 Emmys — Clarke and her gowns are always a more than welcome addition to the red carpet.

Luckily, I have some good news. Using the same social media platform as last year, Clarke posted this on Sept. 12:

It appears that Clarke has arrived in Los Angeles and is prepared to head to the Microsoft Theater on Sept. 18 to celebrate Game of Thrones' inevitable successes — and possibly her own first win, as well. Most of Clarke's competition comes from her colleagues — out of the six actors nominated in the category, three are from Game of Thrones. In addition to Clarke, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams are nominated for their respective roles as Cersei Lannister and Arya Stark. The three Game of Thrones stars are up against Dame Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey), Maura Tierney (The Affair), and Constance Zimmer (UnREAL).

Regardless of who brings home the prize, it seems like Clarke is grateful that she'll be able to enjoy the festivities in person this year. And, she'll have plenty of her castmates by her side which will make her return to the Emmys even sweeter. As for fans, we'll be cheering her on and waiting with baited breath to see which classy gown she chooses to wear this year.
