Kroy Biermann's NFL Career Has Taken Some Turns

Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta spinoff Don't Be Tardy has followed Kim Zolciak, her husband, Kroy Biermann, and their family through their wedding, the births of their children, and both of their careers. When Kroy and Kim met, he was a linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons, but his career in the NFL has since taken him away from Georgia. I can't even tell you what football team Kroy Biermann is on now, because he's currently a free agent. He had been with the Falcons since the team selected him in the 2008 NFL Draft until last year. According to the NFL, Kroy signed a 1-year deal with the Buffalo Bills in August, but earlier this month, he was cut when he didn't make the final roster, as reported by the Buffalo Bills team website.

Though the 30-year-old professional linebacker is currently without a team, that could change very soon. On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought Kroy in for a tryout, according to NBC, which could potentially lead to a new contract. No matter which team he signs with, Kim told Us Weekly that she just wants her husband to be happy. But if Kroy does end up signing with another team, the family will have to endure the distance between them — or maybe move to another city.

"With the NFL comes a lot of change, and Ariana starting high school is tough," Kim told Us Weekly. "It’s my marriage and my family, and how do we balance it all? It will be interesting to see where Kroy ends up and what we do to balance it."

In the summer, Kroy and Kim had celebrated his signing with the Buffalo Bills and she made a bittersweet Instagram post about him leaving for training camp. Kim posted a photo of their kids huddling around and hugging Troy, saying goodbye to their dad (for now). "This has been one of the hardest days ever for me," she wrote in the caption. "The team is AWESOME and my hubby is ecstatic...It was hard to say good bye."

This kind of long-term distance may have been a first for the family. Kroy started playing for the Atlanta Falcons in 2009 and met Kim in 2010, as shown on the third season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. In 2013, he tore his Achilles tendon and did not play that season on the gridiron, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but he remained with the Falcons until last year. Before that, he was a standout defensive player at the University of Montana.

No matter where Kroy ends up, I'm sure Kim and their family will work through it — and fans will root for them both all the way.
