You Have A Chance To Become A Spice Girl

The Spice Girls burst onto the British pop scene in 1996, and with it a generation of women whose answer to what they "really, really want" was to become a part of the girl power pop group. Sadly, that was a wish that could never come true — until now, that is. If you've dreamed about strutting the stage next to Posh or having a riff off with Scary, then you're going to freak out over this epic news. According to The Daily Mail, Spice Girls fans have a chance to become a part of the group, because the Spice Girls may recruit new members through a BBC talent competition series. Someone pinch me, because I think I'm dreaming in the '90s again.

Word of a Spice Girls reunion was bittersweet, as though the Spice Girls will be performing a highly-anticipated 21st anniversary concert, not all the ladies will be able to make the show. As Melanie Brown (a.k.a. Mel B, a.k.a. Scary Spice) confirmed on the Late Late Show With James Corden, Brown, Geri Halliwell ("Ginger") and Emma Bunton ("Baby") are performing a Spice Girls reunion show, sadly without the addition of Melanie Chisholm ("Sporty") and Victoria Beckham ("Posh"). So what's the trio to do? Find two replacement Spice Girls for the night, of course.

According to The Daily Mail, the Spice Girls have pitched the idea of a competition in which two lucky, talented fans can score the performance of a lifetime. Of course, it won't be easy: the replacement Spice Girls will have to earn their place in Sporty and Ginger's platforms. The potential upcoming talent hunt will involve auditions and heats over five consecutive nights in April of 2016. The final round will air live on BBC1, and the winner will join the pop group for their show in Hyde Park next July to celebrate the 21 year anniversary of their debut single "Wannabe."

Right not the contest hasn't officially been announced (A BBC spokesman told The Daily Mail: "BBC Entertainment has lots of ideas in development but we never comment on details.") but my fingers are crossed so hard that it will be soon. Though I'm personally probably not in the running for this competition — whoever gets to play pop princess for the night will likely have to carry a tune a lot better than I ever possibly could — as someone who danced around her room while singing "Wannabe" into her hairbrush for years, I'm seriously excited for whoever gets the gig. The fact that another random fan like myself could get a chance to sing with three of the five Spice Girls is a huge win for fangirls everywhere.
