Will Rolling Stones Go On After L'Wren's Death?

by Mallory Schlossberg

It looks like Mick Jagger is taking time to mourn his recent loss. In the wake of L'Wren Scott's recent passing, the Rolling Stones have postponed their Australian tour. They were expected to launch the tour in Perth tomorrow. Scott was found hanging by a silk scarf in her New York apartment Monday in what seems to be a suicide. Her death has shocked the fashion world, as she was a renowned designer and much admired in her community. Still, it surely can't amount to the pain that her significant other of 10 plus years must endure.

A source told US Weekly that Jagger is "terribly devastated" and "inconsolable, which would without a doubt make it near impossible to perform a rollicking tour.

It seems his family, too, is mourning with him; Jagger's daughter, model Georgia May Jagger, opted out of participating in the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival for the Camilla Grand Showcase, to instead fly to New York to be with her family.

The Rolling Stones' performance was a large investment for South Australia, which pledged approximately 425,000 in US dollars to have a hold on booking the famous group. In a statement released by the International Entertainment Consulting (IEC), alongside Frontier Touring and AEG live, the concert was set to be enormous, and it was “easily going to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stage and production Adelaide has ever seen."

The concert postponement was announced right after Scott's death, and in the wake of tragedy, it's important that fans and production companies recognize that Jagger is grieving, and an over-the-top rock concert doesn't seem well suited for this moment.
