If Walter White wasn't iconic enough for you, Bryan Cranston has another memorable character in mind that he'd like to portray. During E!'s coverage of the Emmys red carpet, Bryan Cranston told Giuliana Rancic that he wants to play Donald Trump in some sort of biopic. Frighteningly/intriguingly, this isn't even the first time the Breaking Bad actor mentioned wanting to portray Trump: He also told NBC's TODAY back in July that he was interested in taking on Trump's "serio-tragic-comedic character." Even though Cranston is nominated at the Emmys for his turn as President Lyndon B. Johnson in All the Way, he's already looking to perform as another political figure, and I honestly don't know how I should feel about this.
Cranston might want to act as Trump, but that doesn't mean he wants Trump as president. Per Time, during an interview with Nerdist, he said Trump is a "loose cannon who has terrible ideas and would be a horrible president." Yet, even then he acknowledged what an interesting person Trump is by saying, "There’s something great about his ‘I-don’t-give-a-sh*t’ attitude that really kind of keeps others honest." So, although Cranston attended the Democratic National Committee, he still thinks that playing Trump in a movie would be pretty fantastic.
The actor showed off on the Emmys red carpet with his impersonation of Trump saying the word "huge" and a plethora of spot-on gestures. And, while I can't say that Trump deserves the caliber of acting that Cranston would provide to a movie or show about his life, if the 2016 president election has proven anything, it's that it wouldn't stop tons of people from watching.
