Yes, Jennifer Aniston Is Just Fine Post-Divorce

by Michelle Lulic

Relationships are hard enough for non-celebs, and when you're a celebrity, it doesn't get any easier. If you live your life in the spotlight, there's no doubt your love life will be dissected by the second — and unsurprisingly, having your every romantic move analyzed by the public can make the dating even more difficult. In Jennifer Aniston's case, for instance, despite the fact that she herself as moved on and married Justin Theroux, the public won't stop connecting her with her previous marriage to Brad Pitt that ended over a decade ago. In fact, even now, Aniston is still asked questions about Brad Pitt, and his marriage to Angelina Jolie — and that doesn't seem to be dying down even as Brangelina split up and opted for divorce on Tuesday. So, in light of this, let's take a look back at some of the many times the media turned their eyes towards Aniston to ask her about her ex-husband's new relationship, even though she herself is an accomplished actress, smart woman, genius businesswoman, and overall interesting person. Of course the tabloids choose to ask her about her former marriage rather than all that.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter from January 2015, for instance,, the Cake actress was still asked about Pitt — and, one again, she had to attempt to put all of the possible feud rumors to rest.

"We're not in daily communication. But we wish nothing but wonderful things for each other. Nobody did anything wrong. You know what I mean? It was just like, sometimes things [happen]. If the world only could just stop with the stupid, soap-opera bulls**t. There's no story. I mean, at this point it's starting to become — please, give more credit to these human beings."

But the Pitt topic still manages to come up in interviews now, even those that were meant to promote Aniston's Best Actress Golden Globes nomination in 2015. For example, in her 2015 CBS interview with Lee Cowan, Aniston responded to Cowan's quip about, "The fact that it still follows you around," by saying, "I mean, I don't like it when people bring it up. But people still do, right?" And things got seriously awkward when he suggested that Aniston might still be "in pain."

Additionally, in her December 2008 Vogue magazine cover interview, the Friends actress responded to questions about her ex by stating, "We have exchanged a few very kind hellos and wishing you wells and sending you love and congratulations on your babies. [...] I actually feel I've been unbelievably lucky in love. I don't feel like I'm supposed to be any further along or somewhere that I'm not. I'm right where I'm supposed to be." Somehow, because that was not enough, she then found herself having to clarify herself for the tabloids once again during an appearance on Oprah that same year: "I’ve been unbelievably lucky in love. It just might not look the way it’s supposed to look at this point.” So, yes, 2008 Aniston was happy with her life, just like she seems to be now.

It goes even further back than 2008, though, of course. In September 2005, Aniston spoke out about her then-fresh divorce in Vanity Fair , telling writer Leslie Bennetts, "I’m happier than I’ve ever been."

Sadly, it doesn't seem that Pitt has received the same line of questioning Aniston has: Pitt was asked about Aniston in a 2014 episode of the Zack Galifianakis' show, Between Two Ferns, but that was about it. Aniston has been made the victim time-and-time again, simply because she's a woman, and tabloids love the story of a woman scorned — even if said woman has repeated time and time again that she is OK with what happened.

So, basically, stop asking Aniston questions about Brad Pitt. That chapter of their lives is long gone — Pitt is in another relationship (for now), and Aniston is happily married to another man. Girl, you just keep doing you.
