5H’s Ally Brooke & Her Dog Collaborated

by Kristie Rohwedder

On Tuesday, one fifth of sledgehammer-wielding pop outfit Fifth Harmony tweeted a very special paw-laboration, and I could not be more here for it. The always delightful Ally Brooke Hernandez recorded a duet with her dog, Zoey, and the video of said duet flipped into my heart so effortlessly, you might mistake it for a member of the Final Five. (OK, that was a bit of a stretch. No one will mistake a 45-second vid for one of the incomparable members of the US women's gymnastics team. Forgive me.)

In the clip, the “That’s My Girl” singer and her four-legged buddy deliver an a cappella rendition of the theme song from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Per usual, Hernandez's voice sounds lovely; no surprises there. But who knew the star’s pup could carry a tune? And by “carry a tune,” I mean “hit every last note, howl on key, and harmonize with a professional Harmonizer.” Hernandez’s talented pooch could very well be old news to the rest of the planet, but I, for one, had no idea Zoey was such a strong vocalist.

To recap: The video features a) someone from one of my favorite pop music groups, b) a precious nugget of a dog who can sing, and c) a cover of a song from the greatest Disney movie of all time.
