Pitt Is Reportedly Being Investigated — UPDATE

It's only been a few days since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, but now, even more heartbreaking allegations has come out involving their split. According to a new report by TMZ, Brad Pitt is allegedly being investigated by the LAPD and the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services for verbal abuse and getting physical with his children. TMZ claims that on a recent flight taken by Pitt, now-ex Angelina Jolie, and their children, Pitt allegedly became inebriated, and then allegedly screamed and acted "physical" with the children. Additionally, People also confirmed the report. Bustle has reached out for comment from Pitt and Jolie's reps, and hasn't heard back at this time.

Update: The Independent reports that the LAPD told the publication that they are not investigating Pitt. A LAPD source reportedly told The Independent, "We only found out through calls this morning, we contacted divisions that would be handling it and they’ve said no." Bustle has reached out to the LAPD for confirmation and additional comment.

Update 2: Us Weekly is also reporting that an LAPD source tells them Pitt is not being investigated. The LAPD reportedly told the publication: "LAPD is not handling any report or allegations into child abuse for Mr. Brad Pitt." The Public Information Officer reportedly told the site, We don’t have anything on Brad Pitt right now. We have confirmed with the detectives, and according to our detectives there are no active investigations regarding Brad Pitt.”

Update 3: The Independent reports that "a source close to the actor" told the site, "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children. It’s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light. I think the most important thing is the fact that he is co-operating and that he takes it seriously, he recognizes it is a serious matter and he is willing to do whatever will be best for his family."

Update 4: People is reporting that while the LAPD is not investigating abuse allegations against Pitt, a source claimed to the publication that the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services is looking into the alleged incident. Bustle has reached out to the L.A. DCFS, but has not yet received a response.

Update 5: The L.A. DCFS Public Information Officer told Us Weekly: "We’re prohibited by law from disclosing case specific information or even identifying any involvement with any client."

Update 6: The FBI released the following statement to Bustle: “In response to your inquiry regarding allegations within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; specifically, an aircraft carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued.”

Earlier: According to TMZ, a person anonymously reported the sight to the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services, and that Pitt, Jolie, and the children are allegedly in the process of being interviewed. TMZ also reported that a person close to Pitt told the site, "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children," adding, "It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light."

People reported that the anonymous call reporting the alleged abusive behavior came last Wednesday, and that Pitt had allegedly been drinking at the time of the incident. TMZ reported that while the investigation is still in progress, Jolie and Pitt have both been interviewed and DFCS will also interview the children. Reportedly, this incident is what led to Jolie filing for divorce earlier this week, although the reason for their split has yet to be confirmed by her or Pitt.

Before their divorce, Pitt and Jolie had been together for 10 years and married for two. On Tuesday, Pitt released the following statement to People on their split:

I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.

Jolie's lawyer, Robert Offer, also released a statement to Reuters this week on behalf of the actor:

This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.
