Watch The Dalai Lama Impersonate Donald Trump

by Yvonne Juris

The Dalai Lama sure is wise — especially when it comes to politics, among other things. And to complement that wisdom, he also has an incredible sense of humor. And in a recent interview with Piers Morgan of the British TV show Good Morning Britain, the Dalai Lama captured Donald Trump with one perfect gesture.

The Dalai Lama, 81, placed his hand over his head to mock Trump's hair when Morgan asked the Tibetan monk what his thoughts were about the candidate. He then made a gesture to his mouth and moved it horizontally, ironically saying, "his mouth... small." To which a laughing Morgan said it was "a good impression."

The Dalai Lama is known to have a penchant for making jokes, and this lighthearted imitation is no exception. His Holiness, another name for the Dalai Lama, is not the first spiritual leader to comment on Trump. Pope Francis also made some comments about the Republican candidate, although they were delivered in a more sobering tone.

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not the gospel," the Pope said about Trump's plan to build a wall between Mexico and the United States. Trump called the Pope's comments, "disgraceful," called himself a "very good Christian," and said in a statement that, "No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man's religion or faith." Well, if you say so, Mr. Trump.

And the latest footage from the Dalai Lama, in which he imitates Trump's "small" mouth, is really on point. When watching the GOP presidential candidate and former reality TV star, you can't be blamed for thinking that Trump's mouth moves just a bit too much without always having the most substance or accuracy behind it. Is that called... blabbing?

The spiritual leader of Tibet has been living in India as a refugee since the 1959 Tibetan uprising against China. He spoke about a number of issues with Morgan during the interview, including a discussion of the upcoming book, The Book of Joy, which will provide spiritual thoughts and advice from both the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

We've yet to see if Trump fires back at the Dalai Lama, but it would probably be best if he didn't. He's already in enough hot water for his comments about the Pope and, well, nearly everything else that he says.
