The Backstreet Boys Are Coming To Las Vegas

by Emily Lackey

Backstreet is literally back, you guys: It was announced Friday that the Backstreet Boys will begin a residency at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, beginning in 2017. And, if you ask me, this officially makes Las Vegas an absolute mecca for '90s kids. With the Backstreet Boys joining a number of performers we worshipped, idolized, and loved growing up, Las Vegas isn't just a city for sinning anymore. Now it's a place to walk down memory lane and get all kinds of nostalgic for our youths.

But this isn't the first time that Backstreet has been back. In 2013, the beloved boy band got together for a reunion tour that made everyone over the age of 25 feel like a teenager again. The tour launched an entirely new album and lasted for two years.

This time, the news is just as big. According to Entertainment Weekly, Nick Carter and Kevin Richardson have confirmed that all five original members of the band will be coming to Las Vegas to take up residency. On top of that, they'll also be releasing a new album. Whether or not it will be new music has yet to be confirmed, but that news — if it's coming — would be the cherry on top of this already amazing Backstreet Boys news sundae.

The Backstreet Boys will be one of many talented '90s stars and groups to take the Las Vegas stage in recent years. A number of singers and bands have taken up residencies at some of Las Vegas' biggest casinos and hotels, including Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Cher, Meatloaf, and Shania Twain in recent years. With a list of performers like that, this city is slowly becoming a destination for children of the '90s to relive their glory days with the music that they grew up loving.

I'm just glad to hear that another huge group is on its way back to the stage. There's nothing that I like more than a comeback, and these Boys are definitely making one.
