How To Look Bald For Halloween

The "sexy" Halloween costume is overrated. Instead, it's cool to look totally realistic and embrace SFX, props, and accessories to create an awesome costume. If you want to transform yourself this year, you might be interested in how to look bald for Halloween, so you can really flex your creative muscles. After all, it's fun to play dress up and if you're going to metamorphose into someone else, you may as well go all out.

Ladies who love their locks and can't bear to part with them will want an alternative solution to looking bald, that doesn't involve shaving their heads. There are so many super fun characters to dress up as for Halloween who have little to no hair, from Professor X of X-Men, to Uncle Fester of The Addams Family, or Eleven of cult Netflix show Stranger Things . Going bald also enables you to embrace out of this world looks that involve being hairless, such as aliens, mermaids, or other fantastical creatures. Once you've gone bald, the world of wigs is open to you too, so you can create more legit looks without your real hair poking out from under your wig.

Of course, you could always pay homage to your fave bald headed female celebs like Amber Rose or Charlize Theron as Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. Whoever you decide to be this Halloween, here's how to look hairless if your muse is bald.

Latex Bald Head Cap Halloween Costume Accessory, $5, Amazon

To start, you will need a bald cap. You can buy one of these online, like this simple style from Amazon.

However, if you want a more customized fit or color, you can make your own with rubber latex. The above tutorial shows you how to create your own bald cap.

After this, you're going to need to comb all of your hair and secure it at the back of your head. You can then apply your bald cap — the YouTuber above uses a product called Prosaide (a skin adhesive) to help it to stick to her skin, so it's not flapping about. It needs to be super tight against your skin in order to look realistic. This YouTuber uses a Baldies bald cap, which she explains can be diluted and melted with acetone to get rid of the edges of the cap for a seamless finish. She then recommends using PAX Paint to match the cap to your skin tone and apply it with a sponge applicator. Plus, she explains how to create a very realistic finish with different colored paints, so your skin is not all the same color.

For folks who want to take the bald cap look to the next level, you can create a creepy, cosmic alien look.

Or you can use your bald cap to create an ethereal demon or fairy costume.

Deadpool is a gore-some character to dress as for Halloween, especially if you want to scare the pants off everyone when you remove your mask.

Barry Old Man Mask, $400, Etsy

Alternatively, if you don't have the time, patience, or skills to apply a bald mask, you can pick up a phenomenal, full head mask that's bald. Sure, it'll cost an arm and a leg, but if you've got money to burn and you want something that makes you utterly unrecognisable, a realistic mask with a bald head will work wonders.

However you achieve your hairless noggin this Halloween, you're sure to have fun doing it!
