French Montana has Worked with Hannah Montana

by Kaitlin Reilly

If you've heard Jennifer Lopez's "I Luh You Papi," you know French Montana already. The rapper guested on Jennifer Lopez's single and even made an appearance in her gender-role-subverting music video. So who is French Montana, exactly? Here's where else you know him from.

The Morocco-born French Montana (birth name: Karim Kharbouch) moved from his home outside of Casablance to the South Bronx in New York when he was only 13. He made a name for himself by selling street DVDs, where he interviewed different artists and performed. His DVDs, which were titled "Cocaine City" and ran from 2002-2010, got him the attention of Akon's Konvict Muzik label, which signed him in 2011. He left the label after two years and signed with Interscope Records and P. Diddy's Bad Boy Records. In 2012, French Montana was featured later in XXL's Freshman Class along with rappers like Macklemore and Iggy Azalea.

In 2013, French Montana's debut album Excuse My French dropped, featuring songs like "Ain't Worried 'Bout Nothin'" and "Freaks," which Nicki Minaj guested on. Do you remember this video of Miley Cyrus? She recorded a new remix of "Ain't Worried 'Bout Nothin'" with the rapper in October 2013, which means that Hannah Montana and French Montana have finally joined forces.

French Montana seems primed to work his way up in the rap world, and with a high-profile collaboration with Jennifer Lopez, he's definitely getting there.
