Did You Get Engaged On A Train Recently?

by Lia Beck

Justin Timberlake's music really brings out the love. Whether it's love for your significant other that makes you propose during one of his concerts or love for fast food after listening to the metaphor-heavy "Carry Out." One couple felt the effects of Timberlake's music and inspired his newest video. Justin Timberlake's video for "Not a Bad Thing" premiered Thursday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and it's more of a documentary than your typical music video.

The video follows two filmmakers on the search for a couple who got engaged on a Long Island Rail Road train while Timberlake's "Not a Bad Thing" played. Timberlake and the documentarians heard about the proposal and decided to try to find these people because it makes for a great music video — I mean, because it is "a reminder that romance isn't dead."

In the video, Timberlake's song plays over the search for the couple which consists of the filmmakers going on a radio show, hanging up posters that say, "Have you seen this couple?" and texting each other messages that pop up on the screen. The search is interspersed with real couples talking about their own relationships and engagements. Even if you think this whole thing is totally cheesy — especially the reenactment with the guy holding up his cell phone Say Anything style, am I right? — the interviews are still pretty cute.

Three-quarters of the way through the video, I became convinced that the filmmakers are the couple and that this is all just a big trick, but that suspicion was never confirmed or denied because the video ends "To Be Continued..."

After the video, DeGeneres asks that anyone with information contact the show, so I guess the couple still hasn't been located. If that's the case, they'll certainly be found now that the video has premiered on national television. Where are you, love birds? Don't you wanna meet Justin Timberlake?
