Lady Gaga Is Going Back To Her Roots

by Jordana Lipsitz

Lady Gaga is going back to her roots in a very, very cool way. Rolling Stone reports that Gaga will debut songs from her upcoming LP, Joanne, on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at an undisclosed US dive bar — the kind of venue where the singer got her start — as part of her Bud Light x Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour. The best part of the news is that even if you don't happen to be in the exact bar at the exact moment Gaga is performing, you can catch a livestream of the small venue gig through Bud Light's Facebook Live at 10 p.m. ET. How cool is that?

Though the Oct. 5 performance will be the premiere performance of Gaga's single,"Million Reasons," it will certainly not be her first dive bar rodeo. Rolling Stone reports that in a statement, Gaga said, "My first performances were in dive bars in New York City and around the country, so working with Bud Light to go back to my roots to perform songs from my new album Joanne is such an exciting way to connect with my fans and share this music with them for the first time." She also pointed out that the dive bar route helps set the tone and "raw Americana vibe"of her newest LP. It definitely seems like she's going back to a time before she was the glamorous Mother Monster and embracing that part of her past.

Gaga has two other tour stops after the Oct. 5 performance at currently undisclosed locations, on Oct. 20 and Oct. 27. The secrecy behind the venues really helps with the dive-tastic feel. Since these show locations won't be announced until the day of each show, if at all, fans won't be camping out for hours trying to get the best seats. It will feel like Gaga is just your average dive bar performer and not a kazillionaire on her way to an EGOT.

According to the Telegraph, Gaga debuted another single from Joanne, "Perfect Illusion," during an unannounced performance at an east London venue, Moth, on Sept. 10. So it appears that the small venue thing seems to be part of a bigger plan for Joanne, and I'm certainly not mad about it. All I can hope for is that I happen to be in the right dive bar at the right time and catch Gaga when she chooses to perform.

I may or may not be recruiting a crew to spread out to the dive bars across New York in the hopes of catching Gaga. If we cover more ground, we might be able to figure the secret spot, but if it doesn't work out, we fans can always watch the Facebook Live event on our phones while in dive bars. It's almost the same thing.
