‘KUWTK’ May Have Been Filming In Paris

Late Sunday night, scary news broke about Kim Kardashian. According to her rep, Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris, France hotel room. Understandably it sounds like a terrifying situation. Considering the famous family is constantly surrounded by cameras, fans may be wondering: Is Keeping Up With The Kardashians currently filming in Paris? Well, it's unclear at the moment, but as of late August, the family was filming Season 13 of the show, according to Inquisitr. Plus, the E! show has reportedly been renewed through 2019, which makes me believe that filming is still ongoing. Update: On Monday afternoon, Kardashian's rep released the following statement to Bustle: "They were not shooting in Paris." Meanwhile, E! also confirmed KUWTK was not being filmed in an exclusive statement to Hollywood Life. The network said,

"All of us at E! are incredibly thankful that Kim Kardashian West is safe, and we send her and her family our love and support. 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' was not filming at the time of the robbery. Our focus right now is entirely on Kim’s well-being."

Earlier: Based on the details thus far, the whole incident sounds rather traumatic. The Associated Press reported that a group of "assailants" dressed as police officers took more than $10 million worth of jewelry from the reality star. According to E!, a source close to the situation said, "She begged for them to let her live and [said] she has babies at home. Then they wrapped her mouth in tape and put her in the bathtub ... She thought they were for sure going to kill her." Her rep Treciokas has not confirmed those specific details, but did release a statement saying Kardashian is "badly shaken but physically unharmed."

While it's likely that a camera crew was following Kardashian's Parisian adventures, this is the sort of situation that probably would not make it to TV screens. Given the details of the robbery, it wouldn't make sense to broadcast, simply for taste and sensitivity reasons. Based on how the famous family has covered previous major events, I could see them showing Kardashian's reaction a few days afterwards, or even Kanye West leaving his show in New York to go see his wife, but not filming the actual incident or its immediate impact on Kardashian herself.

According to BuzzFeed, the only time that KUWTK ceased scheduled filming was Lamar Odom's drug overdose and subsequent hospitalization. They waited a week until he was air-lifted back to Los Angeles to resume filming. In this case, they may very well pause production until things are more under control. Then again, they're the same family that broadcast a scary car accident that happened in Montana in Feb. 2015 when their vehicle slipped on black ice. The aforementioned BuzzFeed story stated, "The family agreed within weeks that the only way to ensure the show’s success was to film constantly, and then show everything that happened to them. They made a pact to broadcast the good, the bad, and the ugly." So, who knows how this will play out.

While fans will just have to wait and see what happens, what's more important is focusing on Kardashian's safety and well-being. That should be the top priority right now — camera crews or not.
