9 Ways to Wake Up Looking Flawless

by Tori Telfer

Let's pretend that we're all getting eight hours of sleep every night. During this blissful time of fantastic dreams and completely uninterrupted slumber (stick with me here), your mind may be switched off, but your skin is busy renewing itself. So why not give it a little help, beyond your fail-proof nighttime ritual of watching Netflix on a computer propped up on your stomach while your eyes get dry because you're forgetting to blink?

The dreamland of overnight products goes far beyond night creams — not that we don't adore night creams. No guarantees that you'll get 8 hours of sleep, but maybe your skin won't tell.

1. Extra-thick night cream.

You probably already know that you want a night cream that's heavier than your daytime moisturizer. It's okay if it doesn't absorb right away (as long as you lay on your back for a while), since it has all night to do so. I like to slather mine on according to the ways of the French, as illuminated in this amazing Into the Gloss tutorial.

Try: 100% Hydraderm Extra Rich Cream - Night Care , $43.04, amazon.com

2. Overnight eye treatment.

You know how sometimes you go to bed bleary-eyed and wake up even worse? Save your poor, tragic peepers with a treatment designed to fix 'em up as you slumber.

Try: New Radience Naturals Eye Gel Cream, $19.95, amazon.com

3. Overnight hair treatment.

If you can slather your face and body in moisture all night, you can definitely do the same for hair. An overnight treatment is especially helpful for chemically processed locks that spend all day in topknots and tangly braids.

Try: Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Overnight Hair Rescue, $29.95, amazon.com

4. Intensive hand and foot cream.

The hands and feet of busy ladies — and those who work in coal mines — undergo a lot of bullying during the day. Massage them with something so rich you'd never put it on your face before going to bed, and you'll wake up with the hands of a French duchess, more or less.

Try: Bioelements Sleepwear for Hands, $39.50, amazon.com

5. A humidifier.

Turn your entire room into a moisture-inducing haven while you sleep. A "Sounds of the Jungle" nighttime CD might be a little much, but we'd never judge.

Try: Crane Cool Mist Humidifier, $36.99, amazon.com

6. An overnight facial mask.

Though the idea of spending all night with a mask on might sound a little too Phantom of the Opera for your taste, it's a great way to rescue totally desiccated skin.

Try: Origins Drink Up Overnight Mask, $8.98, amazon.com

7. Nighttime lip balm.

You probably don't need a special lip balm just for nighttime. But let's say you're sleeping in the Sahara Desert of bedrooms...

Try: C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm, $9.16, amazon.com

8. Overnight serum.

Got ambitious plans, like "stimulating cellular repair overnight" or something? An overnight serum will go boldly where no daytime moisturizer has dared to go before.

Try: Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum, $41.28, amazon.com

9. Overnight body oil.

And because it wouldn't be America if we didn't have a product for every inch of you, how luxurious does this sound?

Try: Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, $20.83, amazon.com
