Celebs Who Love 'Game Of Thrones' As Much As You

by Maitri Suhas

Game of Thrones is apparently the great equalizer of entertainment. It seems like just about everyone is a fan of the HBO fantasy series, including a whole slew of celebrities who wear their fandom on their sleeves. Nerds! Celebrities love Game Of Thrones, and they've got their preferences when it comes to alliances and who they want to see win the Game (and who they want to see die), and they were right there along with the rest of us biting their nails and trying not to fall apart when Jon Snow died (and then came back, of course).

Even though their schedules are busy, celebrities are just like us — at least on Sunday nights with HBO and booze or snacks of some kind to steel ourselves against the inevitable deaths of one or more characters who we love. They are not just like us in the fact that they have the ability to take their fandom to the next level with premieres, meeting the cast, and even getting pieces of the set, but they still shed tears when Ned Stark got his head chopped off.

Here are 14 celebs who have declared their allegiances to the houses, bore their sigils, and prepared themselves for the winter that came with the White Walkers in Season 6.

1. President Obama

Barack Obama is a huge fan of the series, and he used his own power to pull some strings and get episodes in advance. Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff shared they gave the president the screeners when he requested them during HBO's Facebook Live video for the premiere of Season 6. Benioff said, "When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?"

2. Kerry Washington

The Game of Thrones love spans generations in the Washington family — her parents also love the show. The Scandal star appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and talked about her parents embarrassing her at the Emmys when they met Jason Momoa, aka Khal Drogo.

3 & 4. Seth Rogen & Snoop Dogg

Hearing Snoop Dogg recap Game of Thrones is almost as good as hearing Snoop Dogg narrate Planet Earth. He and Seth Rogan recapped the series on Snoop's webseries GGN. Warning: Very NSFW language.

5 & 6. Dax Shepherd & Kristen Bell

These two are made for each other. Not only is their Khal Drogo and Khaleesi costume fantastic, they also went casual in matching GoT tanks to the premiere and totally made a scene. I hope they get a cameo on the show. They deserve it.

7. Anna Kendrick

Being famous means you get personalized swag from your favorite shows after you live-tweet them.

8. Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling got her own house, too. Kaling said back in 2013 that she was in love with Jaime Lannister, even more so after he got a hand chopped off. "I felt now he's imperfect and I might have a chance with him," she said in an interview on The Late Show with David Letterman.

9. Aziz Ansari

Ansari never holds back in saying what we were all thinking. He once tweeted, "If I ever run into the kid that plays that prick Joffrey on Game of Thrones, I'm sorry - I'm beating the sh*t out of him."

10. Madonna

Madge dressed up like the Mother of Dragons for Purim, the Jewish holiday on which some people don costumes. Hers was a more authentic get-up than any other GoT fan's, though. Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, told Jimmy Fallon that Madonna actually called the showrunners and asked to borrow the very corset and dress that Clarke wore on the show. "I thought I was dreaming," the actor said.

11. Elijah Wood

Frodo Baggins on the Iron Throne is a wacky fantasy crossover, but also, adorable. The actor talked to Conan O'Brien in 2012 about how excited he was to visit the set in Ireland, and Conan astutely pointed out that Wood looked like "he was waiting for a bus" on the Throne. LOL.

12. Beyoncé

When you're Beyoncé, even your fandom is bossed up. Emila Clarke told Harper's Bazaar that Jay Z may have purchased one of Khaleesi's dragon eggs for Beyoncé. "Apparently Jay Z bought one for Beyoncé, or something," Clarke said. "They are really, really, really expensive and they are really f*cking heavy and serious works of art." Only the best for Queen Bey.

13. Leslie Jones

Thank the old gods and the new that the trolls on Twitter did not defeat Leslie Jones, because Game of Thrones would not be the same without her Twitter commentary. Her live tweets during the finale were amazing.

14. Kristin Chenoweth

How can such a big voice come out of such a small person?! Kristin Chenoweth takes her super fandom to an epic, operatic level, belting out the theme song on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

There's sure to be more famous fans of Game of Thrones showing their colors next season, and hopefully, they're ready for the pain of the faves dying off.
