8 Engagement Photo Clichés We Never Want To See Again

I'm of the age where everyone in my social circle is getting married. Not just getting hitched, but flooding my Facebook feed with their corny, contrived engagement photos. There's nothing bad about getting a few photos taken to mark the occasion of deciding to spend your life with someone you love — but do all engagement photos have to be some variation on the same cutesy theme? At this point, it's basically get a barn or a wheat field or recognizable monument in your city, a photographer with a heavy penchant for tilt shift, and start kissing and holding hands. Here are 8 cheesy engagement photo clichés that should be eradicated before we all die from twee. Note: This does not apply to Kate and Will. Never Kate and Will!

A Heart Made From Two Hands

No. Just no, guys.

Just Your Feet

We get it — your feet are just as in love as the rest of you.

Faux Seriousness

This photo looks like this couple has just had a terrible argument and were forced to pose for a picture.

Piggyback

Because your significant other gives you piggyback rides on the beach, in a field, or in front of an artfully-distressed barn all the time, right?

Cutesy Messages

OK, spell out your initials or the date of your wedding if you have to. But this?

Heads Cut Off

Is this something photographers do just to get a few more shots to include in your package? Because I don't know anyone who wants to put a picture like this in a frame.

Random Props

Picture frames, pinwheels, balloons... do you have these things simply lying around your newly engaged life? Image: Flickr user Alaskan Dude

"Artsy" Shots

Honestly, this looks like it's a photo shot by a bug who was hanging out in an office plant.
