'Stranger Things' Season 2 Hints You Need To Know

Season 1 of Stranger Things was a nostalgic pastiche of '80s supernatural horror throwbacks, and true to that genre, left some aspects of itself open ended. As a result, those of us who were horrified by the Demogorgon and the world of the Upside Down (and delighted by all the throwbacks to to '80s pop culture) are likely eagerly searching for clues regarding the show's sophomore season. And now, we have some: During a New York Comic Con panel that Bustle attended, a few of the series' stars offered up some Stranger Things Season 2 hints.

David Harbour (Chief Hopper) and Milly Bobbie Brown (Eleven) were willing to share their opinions about them to a crowd at New York Comic Con. Harbour claimed that Season 2 is "insane," while Brown noted, "it's going to be incredible." As if your hopes weren't already high enough, right? Based on the success and originality of Season 1, Season 2 has a tough job and big shoes to fill, but by the sound of everything else Harbour and Brown shared, it will deliver. Besides giving their stamp of approval — nay, their glowing recommendation — of the show's second season, the two revealed the following details about Stranger Things Season 2.

On Nancy's Love Life

Harbour disclosed that the love triangle between Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery), and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) will continue. He said, "There will be more of that in seasons to come." Regarding how Nancy's love life will end up and who she will choose, he added, "Again, we have a Season 2, so anything could happen."

On Chief Hopper's Daughter

In Season 1, we learned that Chief Hopper's daughter passed away from cancer. According to Harbour, this grief will be teased out in Season 2. He said, "The guilt that he feels about not being able to save his daughter, which we may get into in Season 2 in terms of what that cancer is about and kind of where it came from and the complexity around that situation. But, in a certain way he has so much guilt because he's so used to saving people or used to good guys and bad guys and he finally ends up in this situation where it's just life and there's nothing you can do, and I think he takes that on himself and carries that on his shoulders a lot of guilt."

On Chief Hopper Adopting Eleven

Once fans learned that Hopper lost his daughter to cancer, theories and hopes that Hopper would take Eleven under his wing as a guardian started popping up. When he left Eggos for Eleven at the end of Season 1, fans were given a sweet glimpse into what that relationship would look like. Regarding the idea, Harbour said, "There would be a rich emotional arc there that I would love to explore."

On Barb's Death

Harbour said that in Season 2, "You do get justice for Barb in some sense... but for those of you wishing that Barb somehow magically comes back to the show, I can assure you that Barb is very much dead." Ouch. OK, that hurts.

On Eleven's Potential Return

During the panel, Brown also confessed to loving The Vampire Diaries, which, like Stranger Things, shoots in Atlanta. Harbour told Brown that he knows Paul Wesley, an actor from the CW series, and said, "They're going to be back in Atlanta while we're shooting." But, Brown was quick to retort, "If I'm back in Atlanta," with a wink. Brown hasn't officially confirmed her reappearance in Season 2, but this sort of insinuates it.

File all these hints under "Reasons Stranger Things Season 2 will be both insane and incredible" as you await the 2017 release.
