Your First Look at K. Stew for Chanel

by Erin Mayer

Kristen Stewart and Chanel may seem like a rather odd couple. The Twilight actress has a casual, accessible off-duty style and the storied French fashion house is possibly the most exclusive, storied and glamorous in the world. Yet, in the first photos from Kristen Stewart's Chanel campaign, the pair are suddenly a match made in heaven.

The label announced its partnership with Stewart back in December at the Metiers d’Art show in Dallas, naming her the new star of Chanel's Paris-Dallas collection. Chanel head designer and creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, shot the campaign himself — further confirming that he is the Andy Warhol of our time — and although the official launch isn't until May 2014, the first images were leaked on Instagram this week. The photos were taken down after a few hours, but we managed to sneak a peak, and we have to admit: Kristen Stewart looks good.

Her intense gaze lends serious edge to the Americana-couture line, and the outfits suit Stewart, who is known for her casually tough sartorial choices. There are cowboy boots and fringed jackets worn with a knotted metallic top, a sequined red, white, and blue jacket, and a floor-length dress adorned with silver stars. From the looks of it, the collection captures the high-low dichotomy of Paris and Dallas quite well — just what you'd expect from a Lagerfeld-costumed Western.
