8 Creepy Real Life Stories From Reddit

by Megan Grant

My favorite Halloween stories and movies are the ones that are scary and gross but could never happen in real life — movies like A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Cabin in the Woods. The stories that creep me out almost a little too much are the ones that could totally be real, and these creepy real life stories from Reddit prove that the truth is way scarier than fiction. It's the reason I can watch an alien rip a human apart limb by limb and feel A-OK, but a movie about a masked man stalking a babysitter gives me the heebie jeebies. Babysitting is hard enough already.

The following stories range from home intruders to ghosts to the discovery of dead bodies, and now I'm sitting here with goosepimples, looking over my shoulder every five minutes because somebody is definitely watching me. You can argue all you want that these stories are made up — but you'd still have to give credit to these people for being creepy as heck.

Many of us have our own real life, spine-tingling stories to share; here are just a few of the best from the users of Reddit. Read on at your own risk. (Warning: Some of them might be triggering, so proceed carefully.)

1. The Man With The Messed Up Face

A scary man chasing you through the dark? Nope nope nope.

2. Saying Goodbye

Scary? Yes. But sweet at the same time.

3. The Friendly Neighborhood Ghost

I'd take a friendly ghost neighbor over an annoying living one any day.

4. The Leaky Suitcase

I feel so gross after reading this one.

5. A Nighttime Visitor

Why do ghosts like to stand in hallways? Don't they realize how creepy that is?

6. Intruder Alert

Creaky gate? Lights coming on? Shadow things? Thank you, but no.

7. Creepy Encounters

I'm sorry but I just don't understand his choice in wardrobe.

8. A Window Break-In

And people wonder why we don't take kindly to people bragging about grabbing people's genitals or kissing them without their consent.
