Fox's 'Rocky Horror' Brings Glamour To "Time Warp"

Like any musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has certain essential songs that are total showstoppers — and the movie just wouldn't be the same without it. "Time Warp" is definitely one and it was such a catchy part of the 1975 film that it even gets to be part of Thrusday night's 2016 TV version's title, which is in full: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again. "Time Warp" in Fox's Rocky Horror Picture Show is a totally glammed up and updated version of the classic tune.

The musical number is the first of the weirdness that young couple Brad (Ryan McCartan) and Janet (Victoria Justice) experience once entering the lair of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Laverne Cox), who is introduced in the next song. "Time Warp" gives the Doctor's underlings some time to shine as the song instructs Brad, Janet, and the audience how to do the "Time Warp" dance:

It's just a jump to the left. And then a step to the right. With your hand on your hips. You bring your knees in tight. But it's the pelvic thrust. They really drive you insane.

Got that?

While the song lyrics and the dance remain identical to the original 1975 cult classic film, the new version of the "Time Warp" looks more like it takes place in a spacious auditorium during a Halloween-themed event than a laboratory run by a mad scientist. I mean, take a look at the gorgeous wood floor if you indeed do the "Time Warp" again.

The costumes are also differed, as Frank-N-Furter's guests in 1975 look like they're extras from Grease and rock some sunglasses at night, while in the 2016 version, the party-goers look more like they raided a Hot Topic turned their Halloween costumes into street wear.

But no matter the setting or the costumes, "Time Warp" is so catchy that you'll be singing and dancing along whether it's 1975 or 2016.
