Is 'KUWTK' Ending? Evidence Suggests Not Yet

by Kayla Hawkins

It's hard to believe it's been that long, but the 12th season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians just finished filming, just after Kim Kardashian's terrifying robbery ordeal in Paris. Will this be the last season of KUWTK ? If you asked me this five or even three years ago, I'd be shocked — back then, it seemed like the Kardashian-Jenner reality TV empire seemed like it was going to last forever. But lately, even the members of the actual family don't seem particularly interested in sharing everything in their lives anymore. More and more members of the family keep decamping from the series, either because they're really busy with other projects, they have their own series to commit to, or they've already quit the show. Bustle reached out to E! about whether the show will continue but has not yet received a reply.

I mean, at this point, original stars of KUWTK like Caitlyn, Kendall, and Rob don't even really appear on the show anymore. According to Entertainment Tonight, Kim is taking some time off to recover after the robbery, and isn't planning when — or if — she'll be back. Kourtney has had a conflicted attitude towards filming, recently telling You magazine, "I don’t want the show to end, but I sometimes think I would be so happy if it did, and I could just move away from it all. By the end of every season I’ve had enough, but, then once we have had a break, I’m ready for more."

Still, I won't believe that Keeping Up with the Kardashians is ending unless I hear it from either E! or from mastermind Momager Kris. What I will believe is that now that the 12th season is complete, it might be a while before there's any more episodes produced, and that the episodes they do have might be stretched across a long period of time, since the family may take a break before making more episodes.

Elsewhere on E!, while I Am Cait was cancelled this year, I'm sure E! would greenlight other spinoff shows, especially one focused on Kylie, who is incredibly popular on social media. And Rob & Chyna's truncated first season just ended, and if the couple stays together, I'd expect that series to return, possibly in order to bridge the gap between the seasons of KUWTK. It was slightly uncomfortable and hilarious, just like KUWTK used to be.

So, I wouldn't pay much attention to any rumors saying that KUWTK is cancelled. I'm sure the Kardashian-Jenner family will let you know when they've decided to bring it to a close. Until then, there's a new season on its way, and the door is still open to more.
