There's A New Big Bad On 'The Vampire Diaries'

We finally found out what evil creature is controlling Damon and Enzo and forcing them to kill people on The Vampire Diaries, and it's nothing we've ever seen before. In the Season 8 premiere, "Hello, Brother," Enzo and Damon were still slaves to the evil creature, forced to bring her bad people to eat — they dragged people to an abandoned slaughterhouse and dump them into a vat of water for this evil to eat. At the end of the episode, it seems the evil had finally had enough to eat and revealed itself as a siren. So, who is the siren on The Vampire Diaries and what does she want?

For those of you who don't know, a siren is a mystical creature, like a mermaid, known in Greek mythology for luring sailors out to sea with their beautiful song, almost brain washing them, and killing them. Now, the siren that emerged from the water in the slaughterhouse at the end of the episode did not have fins, but she did sing. It makes sense, after all, because she first captured Damon by making him hear Elena's voice last season. Luckily, thanks to Enzo's choice to hold on to his humanity while Damon abandoned his human side, Bonnie now knows that they're fighting a siren. But what we don't know is what she wants.

Whatever the siren wants, it looks like part of what she wants is to kill Alaric's twins. Virginia, the one who warned Enzo and Damon about not unlocking the Armory, snuck into Caroline's house and temporarily killed their nanny in an attempt to get at the girls. When Caroline interrogated her, she said that "it" wanted them and then she seemingly started to spontaneously bleed from the mouth and die. It's clear that the siren wants the twins dead, and, if I had to guess, it's because they're the only ones with magic strong enough to lock the siren back in the vault where she belongs.

Whatever the siren wants, she's bad news, and she still has Enzo and Damon in her clutches. And, now that she's emerged from her water tank, she's more dangerous than ever.
