The Cause Of Walker's Accident Determined

by Kristie Rohwedder

Sad, sad Paul Walker update: Though police speculated there might’ve been a mechanical issue with the car the Fast & Furious star and friend Roger Rodas were in, it looks like speed was the cause of the fatal crash after all. According to the Associated Press, an anonymous source who has seen the CA Highway Patrol's report says investigators have reached a conclusion about the tragic accident: the car's "unsafe speed" was the culprit. According to the CHP accident reconstruction specialists' report, “The vehicle had no mechanical failure and the damage that occurred to the vehicle was from the collision.” Ugh. Heartbreaking. All of it is so heartbreaking, no matter the cause of the accident.

In Nov. 2013, the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT carrying Walker and Rodas was going between 81 and 94 mph in a 45 mph zone, and driver Rodas lost control. The car careened into a into light pole, caught fire, and Rodas and Walker died at the scene of the crash.

The CHP has declined to comment, but The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol did the investigation, with the help of Porsche.
