Is The Natasha Denona Star Palette Worth It?

by Rosie Narasaki

It's getting to be that time of year again — everybody's coming out with new gorgeous holiday palettes for the holiday season, and there's one in particular I've got my eye on. With 18 buttery shades for $169, is the Natasha Denona Star Palette worth it? Well, of course, that's a matter of private opinion, but the palette's many gorgeous attributes do speak pretty highly for it.

After all, in addition to the star-embossed metallic leather case, there are 18 unique eyeshadow in a nice variety of finishes (for the record, there are 9 mattes, 4 shimmers, 3 metallics, and 2 duochromes). Plus, Denona designed the palette to accomodate both cool and and warm tones, with the warm tones taking up residence on the left side, and the cooler tones taking up residence on the right.

Besides, if you do the math, $169 divided by 18 comes out to roughly $9.40 per eyeshadow — which is actually pretty comparable to drugstore prices. And if this palette's the same as her previous palette (and it most likely is), each eyeshadow pan holds a hefty 0.08 oz of product, which is especially generous when you consider the fact that that's double the size of your standard MAC shadow (which is 0.04 oz, and retails for $16).

When you break it down like that, it looks like a steal, especially when you consider just how many different looks you'll be able to pull together with the perfectly-curated 18 shades. Oh, and once you throw in the gorgeous leather packaging — well, personally, I'm pretty much sold.

What do you think? Is it something you'll be adding to your list of holiday beauty buys this season?
