The 2016 presidential election has almost arrived — and now Tinder has teamed up with Rock the Vote for a Swipe the Vote Poll, to help you find your true candidate match. Users in the U.S., Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain and the U.K. will be able to swipe on the major issues and see which candidate matches up with their views to see if their choice for president is really consistent with their swipes.
By swiping right or left on issues like taxes, immigration, or gun control, users can share their stances on this election’s most pressing topics. "We selected these issues because they are some of the most talked-about topics in this election and the most important to our Millennial audience," Rosette Pambakian, Vice President, Global Communications & Branding, tells Bustle. "Helping our users understand these topics will help them choose the political candidate most aligned with their views."
Once they complete the poll, U.S. users can then find their closest polling station through Rock the Vote and share which candidate they match with. Granted, I don't think that people will be deciding who to vote for in this election solely based off of a Tinder match, but anything that encourages people to get up and vote sounds great to me — and it should be that easy. Voting is so important, and a civic duty, and Tinder and Rock the Vote are giving you all the tools to get out there and do it.
"This election has drawn worldwide interest, and while obviously only our U.S. users can vote, we wanted everyone’s voice to be heard," Pambakian says. "We will release results to show how each country voted." When Tinder reveals these results next week, it'll give us a fascinating look at how users actually feel about the issues — especially young people, a crucial voting demographic.
It's been a hellishly long election buildup with two incredibly divisive candidates — and I think most of us are ready to get out there and vote. Don't worry, we're almost there. November 8 is getting close, so swipe the issues, find your candidate, and vote.
