'Gilmore Girls' Revival Trailer Is Not Team Logan

by Taylor Ferber

OK, Logan and Rory shippers, before you get too excited about a certain mind-blowing Gilmore Girls revival theory circulating the internet: Hear me out. Logan (Matt Czuchry) gave Rory (Alexis Bledel) an ultimatum in the GG series finale. In A Year in the Life, it looks like this woman is sticking to her guns. Yes, in the latest trailer, which was released Tuesday morning, it's clear Rory has a lot to sort out and Logan isn't necessarily part of that picture. Living a "vagabond" lifestyle, I'm assuming she left her job as a reporter, and now is figuring out how to get credit and underwear. The trailer also shows a glimpse of London, which is where Logan is likely located for his job. But my guess is that she's out there to get closure (because who doesn't need some of that?), not to rekindle the flame, or to — wait for it — become the mother of Logan's baby. Plus, some of Rory's ex-flames come in for the kill with much more screen time than Logan. Therefore, I don't see much hope for Logan and Rory in this trailer. Sorry, shippers. Read on if you dare.

First off, fans only get a glimpse of Logan for maybe half of a second. Plus, he looks happy and settled into life across the pond.

Right? And before you freak out about London, the trailer also shows a snippet of Rory in New York City as well. Just saying.

Also, some familiar faces not only return, but could give Logan serious competition. First, fans see Rory drinking and contemplating her life (and lack of underwear) with her ex Jess (Milo Ventimiglia). The scene, as brief as it is, is really sweet. While Rory shows confusion and hopelessness, conveying how lost she is, Jess gives her reassurance, telling her, "You're still a contender."

Then, Dean (Jared Padalecki) emerges. Although there's no dialogue, fans do get a deep, long Dean gaze. It's maybe half a second longer than Logan's cameo, but still. Something is there.

Regardless of all these hot men who will (probably) fight for Rory's attention, she has her own life to figure out. If she gets closure with Logan and is still friendly with him and her other exes, then great. But the main focus of the trailer is Rory reuniting with Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and living the Jack Kerouac life, on the road again. Watch the magic below.

Based on the trailer, Rory seems nowhere near ready to be in a relationship, never mind ready for motherhood. She's got herself to love and work on, and that's quite alright with me.
