K.Stew & St. Vincent Are A Great Match

Kristen Stewart and St. Vincent — whose real name is Annie Clark — are one of the newest couples out there, and they cropped up pretty quickly out of nowhere, so I understand if you haven't completely adjusted to them yet. After all, it seems like Stewart and Clark were just dating Alicia Cargile and Cara Delevingne, respectively, and now they're suddenly a couple, getting photographed together at a CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund event at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. (You know, just a casual Wednesday. As you do.) But for as much as your head might be spinning trying to wrap your head around this new relationship, Kristen Stewart and St. Vincent make a lot of sense as a couple, actually, and I'm about to tell you why.

Obviously, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what their fans or even their critics think, because any relationship between Clark and Stewart isn't anyone's business but theirs, but there are a lot of similarities between these two that bear pointing out. After all, it seems like things between them are heating up quickly, so you might as well get onboard. Toot toot! Love train, now departing. Here are the eight reasons I think St. Vincent and Kristen Stewart are actually a great match.

1. They're Both Famous

Nothing against us normals, but someone like me, for example, would have a really stark adjustment to the level of fame that someone like Kristen Stewart experiences every day. St. Vincent isn't even close to as high-profile as her new girlfriend, but she at least is in the industry, so she can be absorbed into that lifestyle without as steep of a learning curve.

2. They're In Different Fields

While both are in entertainment, St. Vincent's successes have been in music, while Stewart is highly sought-after as an actor; there are certainly places where they might overlap, but the two won't be in direct competition. I can imagine that going out for the same part or comparing album sales would be an easy way for resentment to set in, so it's nice to be able to avoid that.

3. They're Both Private People

Stewart has always been fiercely guarded about her personal life, steering as clear of the spotlight as she possibly could, as an A-List actor, and St. Vincent is no different. In a 2014 Village Voice profile, David Byrne said that calling his fellow artist a private person was an "understatement," and continued,

Despite having toured with her for almost a year I don't think I know her much better, at least not on a personal level. We're more relaxed and comfortable around each other, for sure. You could call it privacy, or mystery or whatever — I know a few isolated things about her upbringing, school, and her musical likes and dislikes — but it's nice that there are always surprises, too. Mystery is not a bad thing for a beautiful, talented young woman (or man) to embrace. And she does it without seeming to be standoffish or distant.

Sounds pretty familiar!

4. But They're Seemingly Comfortable Showing Off Their Relationship

The fact that these two private people have shown up together in public reassures me that they're comfortable with each other in a really promising way for so early on in a relationship. They seem relaxed and easy next to each other in the photos from the CFDA event, which is the best possible sign.

5. They Look Great Together

Not like this even matters, but it's hard not to notice how painfully cool these two look together. They have similar aesthetics, but are keyed into their own personal styles.

6. Neither One Of Them Gives A F*ck

Check those sunglasses at night, kids — these two really couldn't care less what you think about them, which Stewart has been proving since day one. Um, Converse on the red carpet, anyone??

7. They Both Refuse To Be Boxed In

Neither woman has caved to the pressure to label their sexually in the public eye, and when pressed, their responses sound very similar. Here's what Clark had to say when Rolling Stone asked in 2014 whether she identifies as gay or straight:

"I don't think about those words. I believe in gender fluidity and sexual fluidity. I don't really identify as anything ... I think you can fall in love with anybody. I don't have anything to hide, but I'd rather the emphasis be on music."

And here's Stewart in a 2016 Variety interview, similarly refusing to be boxed in to one category:

"There’s acceptance that’s become really rampant and cool. You don’t have to immediately know how to define yourself. I [used to feel like I] had to have some answer about who I was. I felt this weird responsibility, because I didn’t want to seem fearful. But nothing seemed appropriate. So I was like, ‘F*ck, how do I define that?’ I’m not going to ... Me not defining it right now is the whole basis of what I’m about ... If you don’t get it, I don’t have time for you."

Bravo, ladies! Couldn't have said it better myself.

8. They Both Just Got Out Of A Relationship

Coming out of one relationship and going straight into another is fine, but it's also a specific headspace, so it's probably helpful that Stewart and Clark are both on the same page in this regard.

I don't know about you, but I'm utterly convinced that these two are not only a good match, but a great one. I hope they find even more happiness together, and maybe even get photographed out in public once in a while, because I live for this stuff.
