Tom Hanks Has The Best Halloween Costume

We all owe Linus from Peanuts a huge apology for never believing in the Great Pumpkin, because it turns out that he's real, and he grants wishes. How do I know? Well, Tom Hanks is going as David S. Pumpkins for Halloween. Someone's going to need to bring me some pumpkin-scented smelling salts, because I cannot handle this. Cancel all your costume competitions and go home, because Hanks just won the day, the week, the month, and just October in general. Thank you all for playing, but you can't possibly top this, and I don't want to see you embarrass yourselves trying.

We first met the American hero that is David S. Pumpkins during the "Haunted Elevator" sketch that aired during the Oct. 22 episode of Saturday Night Live. He's just your average guy dressed in a pumpkin-printed suit, who asks, "Any questions?", but leaves you no time to answer, while two skeletons dance around him during in a decidedly non-scary elevator ride. And yet, for some reason the sketch is just. so. funny. It's pure, hilarious nonsense, and the fact that Hanks is such a good sport about it makes it even better.

And now he's taking it to the next level by actually going as David S. Pumpkins for Halloween, and we truly don't deserve you, Tom Hanks. He announced his costume choice on the day of Halloween itself, and it's so perfect that it's truly too much for me. Just look at this.

I'm obsessed with the fact that he announced it in character, it's so adorable. I can almost hear him saying that in the David S. Pumpkins voice, as that insane music plays and the door closes on his ridiculous, dancing self. Please never change, Tom Hanks. This is perfect, you're perfect, David S. Pumpkins is perfect, and I have absolutely zero questions about this turn of events.

Is it just me or has this costume got you in the mood to watch the sketch again? Well, either way, you're welcome. Any questions?
