'Bach' Star Lauren Bushnell Needs A Job

I really love this look into the (somewhat scripted) lives of Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell as they try and build a life after The Bachelor. Falling in love on television is pretty easy when you compare it to wedding planning and house hunting, don’t you think? It’s also a cinch when compared to job searching — that’s what Lauren seems to be doing. Lauren Bushnell needs a job on Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After , and her insecurities about finding her place in life and contributing to her family are so on-point.

Before The Bachelor, Lauren was a flight attendant on Alaska Airlines, and she loved her job. As she explained, though, since she’s sort of famous now, she can’t work in the same capacity — people want to talk to her and pose for pictures with her, and she can’t do her job effectively. Totally get that. Can’t be in a service industry if you can’t perform service. Anyway, after a hair-brained scheme to show Lauren what it’s like to be a zookeeper (her dream job was training dolphins or something), Lauren decided that she wanted to start her own lifestyle blog. That’s fine! She has a path! But Lauren had her doubts, and she told Ben that she was afraid no one would read it and no one would care what she had to say. Lauren, writer to writer, storyteller to storyteller — girl, I hear you.

It’s so normal to feel this sort of imposter syndrome, especially when you’re starting a new venture. I feel like that all the time! I think a lot of people in our age bracket do — the world is an uncertain place, and sometimes, you’re not quite sure what you can add to it. The best thing to do, as Lauren did, is buck up and do the work and see what comes out of it. Lauren may be famous and marrying a Bachelor, but she has the same inner fears that everyone else does — just one of the reasons I love watching her on Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After.
