The Least Surprising Anthony Weiner Development

by Emily Shire

On Wednesday, DailyMail.com reported that Anthony Weiner had entered rehab for sex addiction. According to the DailyMail.com's report, Weiner's treatment facility "separates men and women and its program includes counseling for those addicted to cybersex and exhibitionism as well as addictions to anonymous sex and porn." The DailyMail.com report does not include commentary from the former congressman or his estranged wife Huma Abedin, who is one of the top aides to Hillary Clinton.

Weiner has been in the news once again, though not (just) because of his sexting. On Friday, FBI Director James Comey announced that the bureau was investigating newly discovered emails related to the probe of Clinton's private server as Secretary of State. Shortly thereafter, The New York Times reported that the FBI discovered those emails while investigating Weiner for sending sexts to a 15-year-old girl. The new emails were retrieved while probing a computer belonging to Weiner.

Those sexually explicit exchanged messages with a minor were reported in September by DailyMail.com. Prior to that story breaking, though, Abedin had already announced she had separated from Weiner in August. Her announcement came when Weiner was caught in a different sexting incident that also raised red flags, as first reported by the New York Post. While the woman Weiner exchanged messages with was of age, Weiner appeared to send illicit photos while his son, Jordan, was lying in bed next to him.
