Matthew Lewis' Magical Reaction To 'Cursed Child'

No matter how many times Harry Potter fans have read the books or watched the movies, it always feels magical. There is just something enchanting about the story, the characters, and the relationships created by J.K. Rowling, and there is one particular Harry Potter actor who feels the same way. Matthew Lewis saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London's West End on Friday. In addition to sharing photos with the cast, Lewis wrote a lengthy caption detailing his experience seeing the play. Let's just say that the 27-year-old actor's reaction is just like when his character, Neville Longbottom, saw Hogwarts for the first time.

His post reads,

A giant congratulations and an even bigger thank you to these guys and the rest of the cast of #CursedChild. To be in the movies was a dream come true but it became work and I forgot what it was to be a fan a long time ago. However, over the last two nights I was able to enjoy the world of Harry Potter once again. To lose myself in a story so rich and so powerful and, more importantly, that I had nothing to do with was truly magical. I felt like I was nine years old again, discovering it all for the first time and it is very, very special.

I'm pretty sure that's how many of us felt before, during, and after reading or seeing the play, especially since no new Harry Potter books had been released for quite awhile. It's wonderful to know that those who brought these forever loved characters to life feel the same as the fans.

Yes, Lewis did say that telling the story and acting as Neville became more work than anything else over time, but that's understandable. When you work on eight movies and portray the same character starting in 2001 and ending 10 years later, well, that has to take a lot out of you. I'm sure the story also loses some of its magical appeal, but thankfully Lewis was able to gain that very important aspect of Harry Potter back after seeing Cursed Child. That's just the power the series has, isn't it?

And for those who forgot how Neville reacted when riding the boat to Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, here you go.

I think his facial expression pretty much sums up how everyone will forever feel about Harry Potter.
