7 Things Trump Was Probably Thinking On E-Day

by Alexi McCammond

Considering the entire 2016 Election was dominated by men and filled with countless sexist remarks, the memes of Donald Trump peering over Melania's shoulder while they voted was a perfect way to end this election cycle. Sure, it's illegal to look at someone else's ballot as they vote, but it's also just downright controlling for Trump to do so. As if he couldn't trust his own wife to cast her vote for him to become president of the United States! Well, that's what it seemed like he was thinking to me, because why else would he need to sneak a peak into her polling booth?

Actually, now that I think about it, there could've been countless things Trump was really thinking when he decided to glance over at Melania's ballot. Maybe he was copying her answers on what is arguably the most important test of his life? Maybe he was getting teary-eyed seeing his name on the ballot in front of him, so he wanted to see his name on his wife's ballot, too? (Nice!) Whatever he was thinking, it was clear his voting strategies rubbed of on his son, Eric, who did the exact same thing to his wife.

Part of me hopes he was so focused on whatever Melania was doing that he forgot to properly fill out his own ballot. We might never hear from Trump about what was really going on in his head, but these are TK things Trump was definitely (probably) thinking while looking over Melania's shoulders:

1. "Do I fill out the circle or put an X through it?"

Maybe he opted to write in his own name instead? Luckily Melania was there to teach him.

2. "The media says I'm polling poorly with women..."

"...so let's check in with actual women AT THE POLLS to see who they're voting for."

3. "If the media can rig the election, so can I!"

*Reports voter intimidation*

4. "I hope she remembers that time I called her beautiful."

Compliments go a long way! Right!?

5. "Speaking of: Wow, she looks great today."

Never an inappropriate time to check women out, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

6. "I'm about to be president! I can do whatever I want."

As Albert Einstein basically said: ignore the rules.

7. "Rule #1 of being the future president: never trust women."

Well, he trusts one woman (his mother).

Happy Election Day to all the nasty women out there! Hopefully you don't catch a man looking over your shoulder while voting today.
