The Starbucks Red Holiday Cup Is Back With A Twist

If you were one of the few who missed Starbucks' annual red holiday cup, good news: It's back, and complete with a major plot twist. During a press conference, Starbucks revealed to a room full of journalists, including Bustle, that their long-awaited Starbucks red holiday cup would actually be 13 red cups in 2016, with each having been designed by a different artist from around the world as part of their holiday cup design challenge in Dec. 2015.

"We hope that this year's red holiday cup designs express the shared spirit of the holidays as told by our customers," Starbucks global chief marketing officer, Sharon Rothstein, said of the unveiling.

Each cup differs greatly, but the common theme amongst them is apparent: unity, love, joy, and the holiday spirit. All important facets of the holiday season, especially in 2016.

According to Starbucks' CEO Howard Schultz at the event, the artists behind the designs come from six different countries, including the U.S., Canada, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and Russia. Designs range from bold, like the Birch Forest design by Chloe, who hails from Plainfield, Illinois, to soft and fairytale-like, like the Poinsettia design by Christina from Bakersfield, California. There's even a design for iced coffee cups.

The red holiday cups will be available in more than 25,000 Starbucks stores across 75 different countries on Nov. 10.
