Bella Hadid & The Weeknd May Be Over

by Kristie Rohwedder

After a year and a half together, Bella Hadid and the Weeknd reportedly split up. According to People's source, the model and singer broke up due to scheduling conflicts — Hadid's busy with her modeling career, and the Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) is reportedly "focusing on finishing and promoting his album" — but they "still have a great deal of love for one another and will remain friends.” Bustle has reached out to reps for Hadid and The Weeknd for comment, but has not heard back at this time.

As far as celebrity couples go, Hadid and The Weeknd’s relationship has been a relatively private one. They first met at Coachella in 2015 through Hadid’s sister, Gigi Hadid. According to ancient Coachella lore, the pair hit it off at the Indio music festival, went several months before going public with their courtship, worked together on the "In The Night" music video, and took a bunch of cute selfies together.

This reported breakup is not the first time Hadid and The Weeknd have gone their separate ways: Back in December 2015, there were whispers that the “Can’t Feel My Face” recording artist and the future Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show model went on a break. According to TMZ, however, this break was nothing more than a rumor. In the following months, Hadid and The Weeknd attended a number of major events together, including the Met Gala and the Grammys.

While staying pals with your ex can be easier said than done, I'm wishing them the best.
